Finally the culmination of this grand endeavour, The Great Foil Swap Project where a piece of aluminum foil was sent from America and another bit of aluminium foil was put in the post from Australia.
This is the foil Poobar mailed me and I think it turned out very well.

Recently some Tumblr suggested that we may see interesting mechanical imprints on a piece of aluminium foil that had gone through our mail system. So Lyall from Western Aussie exchanged foil with Bily and here are the results of his letter to Chicago —BP

A bit of a dissapointment. No special marks save for a line from the back flap that was caused by going through the rollers. Oh well… —BP
I decided to use a fairly light weight standard DL envelope to improve the chances of postal machinery markings showing up on the aluminium foil. That was the plan anyway.
